The Pittsburgh Steelers may once again be dealing with a banged up offensive line. Last night, rookie right guard David DeCastro tore his MCL while pass blocking on the Steelers' second possession of the game. Adam Schefter reports that the team is hopeful the rookie didn't tear his ACL. If his ACL escaped injury, DeCastro could be back about half way through the season. These types of injuries are unfortunate, but they're also a part of the game. That didn't stop Ben Roethlisberger from telling the NFL Network who he thought the culprit responsible for the injury was, It’s just FieldTurf — this is a great field, but FieldTurf is just killing guys because they can’t get their feet out of the ground. It’s just another reason we should get rid of FieldTurf. It's hard to hate field turf, but I can understand where Roethlisberger is coming from. If you've ever had the pleasure of playing a pickup game of football on field turf, you know that it mak...

Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports via Twitter that rookie right guard David DeCastro will not be placed on injured reserve and that the Steelers will carry him on the 53 man roster for the time being. Ben Roethlisberger blames Buffalo’s stadium for DeCastro injury

Injuries in the NFL happen during every game and they are a way of life. So it’s not very often when a player steps up and proclaims that it was the circumstances and not the game that took somebody out. Please click the link below to read this article.

Rules Of The PUP List & Why David DeCastro Is Not Eligible For It

I have received about 20 so questions from readers today asking if Pittsburgh Steelers rookie right guard David DeCastro can be placed on the PUP list to start the season instead of injured reserve. I have posted about the rules of the PUP list several times before, but now is as good of time as any to recap them. In order for a player to be eligible for what is called the in-season...

Steelers Rookie David DeCastro Carted Off With Knee Injury

Pittsburgh Steelers first round draft pick David DeCastro suffered what looked like knee injury against the Buffalo Bills and was carted off to the lockerroom. The injury took place deep in the Steelers own end of the field on their second drive early in the first quarter. Injury looks to be serious. Kugler Says DeCastro Faces Long Comeback But Thinks He Will Be Back This Year

Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review has updated his report from earlier on Monday that stated the Pittsburgh Steelers do not intend on placing rookie right guard David DeCastro on the season ending injured reserve list. DeCastro injury not as severe as first feared

The Steelers don't believe rookie first-round pick David DeCastro's right knee injury was as severe as initially feared. DeCastro is scheduled for surgery Wednesday to repair a torn medial collateral ligament. Coach Mike Tomlin said he and the Steelers are not discussing detailed plans for DeCastro's roster spot until the surgery is complete. All signs point to the...

DeCastro's knee injury overshadows Steelers' win

The Pittsburgh Steelers showed flashes of brilliance on both sides of the ball in a 38-7 preseason romp over Buffalo on Saturday night, though it came at a significant cost. Game Recap: After rough start Steelers roll past Bills 38-7, DeCastro knee injury

If you were someone who watched the first quarter of the Steelers 3rd preseason game against the Bills and then walked away in disgust then you’re probably a tad disappointed to say the least. After a rough start that saw the starters on both offense and defense do absolutely nothing and the Bills go up 7-0, the Steelers turned on the offensive firepower and defensive pressure...

Onus on the offensive line for Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers 2011 campaign began like nearly every other since winning was introduced into Pittsburgh tradition back in the 70’s: unreasonably high expectations to overcome the odds and bring home a Lombardi. For good reason. Six times they’ve hoisted the sacred trophy, and came within tasting distance dozens of others. It’s never enough just [...]

On the Steelers; The Good, The Bad and The Ugly from Buffalo

Anytime you see a score of 38-7 you think, “man, what a blowout!” Let’s remember however this is the preseason and that in the instance of first team vs. first team it was really only 14-7 so keep things in perspective my friends. Obviously, the biggest news is the worst news from last night as first round draft pick David DeCastro left early with what appears to a significant...
