Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not
play this weekend against the Baltimore Ravens, reports Jay Glazer of FOX
Ben Roethlisberger is out this week and Byron Leftwich will get the start. Steelers are not taking any chances w Ben, deciding to sit him

Glazer notes that the Steelers are “not taking any chances”
with Roethlisberger, and are likely trying to avoid him missing significant
time by returning too quickly and reinjuring his sprained shoulder. Veteran
backup Byron Leftwich will make the start in place of Roethlisberger.
Big Ben sustained the injury during Monday night’s victory against
the Kansas City Chiefs. He was diagnosed with a sprained shoulder yesterday and
he was ruled questionable to play against the Ravens.
The Steelers have had success without Roethlisberger over
the years, as he’s missed several games due to injury and suspension. However,
if the team is forced to be without Ben for significant time their chances of
making a deep run in the playoffs decrease significantly.
Given Ben’s track record, I could see him missing one or maybe two games, since the Steelers should be able to beat the Cleveland Browns
without him. However, I would expect him to be back for the team’s second
matchup with the Ravens three weekends from now.
