The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made the move this morning to bench veteran QB Josh Freeman. While many Buccaneers fans bristle at this move, it was the correct move for the Buccaneers at this point in the season. Freeman has 60 career starts and 19 of those have come under the current coaching staff. In his last six games, Freeman has thrown just four touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The current coaching staff has nothing invested in Freeman, he was drafted by Raheem Morris, the previous head coach of the Buccaneers.Freeman was billed as the franchise quarterback the Buccaneers have always been searching for coming out of the draft. Despite showing glimpses of promise, Freeman was never able to get his game to the next level on a consistent basis. He had a solid second season in 2010, throwing 25 scores to just six interceptions. Last season, Freeman set team passing records for the Buccaneers for single season yardage and touchdowns. However, Freeman has thrown just four touchdowns and 1...

NFL Rumors: When will the Tampa Bay Buccaneers bench QB Josh Freeman?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have undergone a disappointing start to the 2013 season, starting 0-3 out of the gate. To say that Josh Freeman is struggling would be an understatement, so the...

Is Greg Schiano trying to save his own job by benching Freeman?

In the NFL, it doesn’t take long for someone to lose his job. That’s why it’s so important for players, coaches and even executives to be as proactive as possible in maneuvering themselves into the best possible positions. That’s what Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano appears to be doing in his move to bench starting quarterback Josh Freeman in favor of rookie...

Benched Josh Freeman and banned 'creamsickle' uniform both featured on Buccaneers tickets

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-3) are headed into this week's game against the Cardinals in the awkward position of featuring quarterback Josh Freeman and the team's throwback creamsickle-colored uniforms on their paper tickets — both of whom fans won't be seeing on the field. That sure is Freeman — now the backup quarterback — and those are the throwback "...

NFL Rumors: Josh Freeman Wants Trade From Tampa Bay Buccaneers

(Photo Credit: USA Today Sports Images) Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman was supplanted by third round draft pick Mike Glennon for the starting role yesterday. The reports are now...

Bucs bench QB Josh Freeman in favor of rookie Mike Glennon

TAMPA, Fla. -- Josh Freeman has always had the look of someone who could be a franchise face in the NFL. He's 6-foot-6, 240 pounds with a strong right arm that has been at times both tantalizing because of its potential and aggravating because of its inconsistency. That imbalance has become the dominant narrative of Freeman's four-plus seasons in the NFL, and it proved to...
