Geoff Hobson over at Bengals.com reports that the team has signed OG Isaac Sowells to the offseason roster:

In an effort to give their offensive line some numbers, the Bengals on Tuesday signed fourth-year guard-tackle Isaac Sowells. The 6-3, 320-pound Sowells was a fourth-round draft selection by Cleveland out of Indiana in 2006. He played 17 games with the Browns in three years before they waived him just before the start of last season, and he sat out ’09.

Looks like fodder for the OTA’s to me, but who knows?  The team has had recent success with cast-offs like OG Evan Mathis and OT Dennis Roland.

What is clear is that the team will need to pare the roster down before camp.  League rules stipulate that only 80 players can come to training camp, and the team presently has 89 under contract, plus 9 draft picks to sign.  Certianly many of the CFA’s should be nervous. Early favorites on the veterans to get their walking papers soon are DB Keiwan Ratliff, DT Orien Harris, S Rico Murray, and WR Freddie Brown.
