Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green has been sidelined
with a bruised left knee since the start of training camp. While the All-Pro
missed the Bengals’ preseason opener as well as Saturday’s practice session, head
coach Marvin Lewis told The Associated Press that Green could return to
practice this week.
Green suffered his knee injury during the Bengals first
training camp session while attempting to make a catch along the sidelines. The
ailment isn’t expected to cause Green to miss the start of the regular season, and
the Bengals are taking it slow with the wide out considering it’s so early in
Lewis told reporters that Green has shown improvement during
his workouts of late. The wide out continues receiving treatment for his injury
and he’s reportedly conducted pool workouts to ease the stress placed on his
If Green is able to return to practice this week, there’s a
chance he sees time in the Bengals’ second preseason contest, which takes place
Saturday against the Tennessee Titans. While he was already an integral piece
of the team’s offense, his importance has heightened as No. 2 wide receiver
Andrew Hawkins could miss the start of the season due to injury.
