On Thursday, Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Andre Smith was arrested after being caught trying to board a plane with a gun in his carry-on bag. At around 5:00 p.m., Atlanta police said they found a loaded .380 pistol in Smith's possession while going through security checkpoints at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport.“We continue to remind passengers of the importance of looking through carry-on bags to ensure there are no prohibited items inside,” said Jon Allen, TSA spokesman.According to WCPO and TSA officials, this already marks the third firearm discovered at the airport this year. A whopping 1,548 guns were discovered at airport nationwide last year, which was up for 1,320 in 2011. Most of the firearms that were found were loaded. The 25-year old was issued a $3,000 bond after appearing in court Friday morning. He was released shortly thereafter. Smith is due to appear in court again on Feb. 4.Smith was drafted in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama. He was one of just 10 Bengals players to start all 16 games during the 2012 regular season.
