Found August 12, 2012 on The Football Fan Spot:
According to the Bengals’ official website, Carlos Dunlap is expected to miss about a month with a knee injury, which puts his availability for week 1 in serious doubt. Dunlap is one of the league’s most underrated players as the 2010 2nd round pick graded out as ProFootballFocus’ 7th rated defensive end last season, with 5 sacks, 13 quarterback hits, and 29 quarterback pressures on 302 pass rush snaps, good for a rate of 15.6%, as a situational player. Heading into his 3rd year in the league, he was expected to have a larger role, after the losses of defensive ends Frostee Rucker and Jonathan Fanene this offseason, and with Robert Geathers also expected to miss about a month with a knee injury. However, it appears the Bengals will be without his services for a couple of games, bad news for a team thin at defensive end. With Rucker and Fanene gone and Geathers and Dunlap hurt, Michael Johnson is the only member of their 2011 defensive end rotation still likely to play week 1 and he ...

Reports: Bengals OG Wharton out for season

New Cincinnati Bengals left guard Travelle Wharton is out for the season with a knee injury, according to two reports. Cedric Benson? Really?

According to one report, the Packers signing of Cedric Benson is "probable." The move makes little sense on the surface and even less sense when you read the last line from our commentary.

New York Jets Vs. Cincinnati Bengals: What We Learned from Preseason Week One

NFL Preseason games ultimately mean next to nothing in the long run, the results forgotten soon after the final whistle. Individual performances are the main takeaway, as game situations can expose faults as well as strengths in an individual player's skill set. Preseason games are a good way to test how a unit is progressing, especially in weeks two and three on the preseason...

New RB Benson Bolsters Battered Backfield

Before the addition of Cedric Benson, the Packers had been down to four running backs for practice this week, with injuries to James Starks and Brandon Saine, among others. At least by the numbers, Benson offers a dramatic upgrade to a young position.

Four-Point Stance: Training Camp No. 13

Nobody has broken down the Cedric Benson transaction like Packer Report, and we continue by providing some must-read context to Benson's fumbling history. Plus, our rookie of the day is an undrafted free agent and our position of the day is the eyeballs-deep defensive line.

Marvin Lewis asked Rex Ryan to not run the wildcat

AP Photo Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis and Jets head coach Rex Ryan know one another from their days with the Ravens. Lewis called Ryan on Friday morning to ask him to not use the wildcat during last night’s game.   I’m not sure if Lewis made the request because quarterback Tim Tebow had a rushing touchdown in Cincinnati two years ago when he was with the Broncos...

A Late Analysis

The family’s summer vacation (and the obligatory craziness in prepping for it) has taken me away from you all for a few weeks, and has caused me to be late in bringing my thoughts about the preseason game versus the Jets last week. But fear not! I am back to deliver my unique perspective on the performance of the Bengals in Practice Game #1. The Battle For #2 Wide Receiver For...
