The world goes round. After The Dirty was submitted the claim that she liked to have sex an extreme (STDs!) amount of times, she took the website to court and the judge found the case in her favor; she is not a slut. She returned to being a teacher and it's a happy ending. How happy though? Well...
USA Today – Cincinnati Ben-Gals cheerleader and Northern Kentucky teacher Sarah Jones, who gained national attention by suing a gossip website that claimed she was promiscuous, is now the subject of two investigations. The lawyer for Cincinnati Ben-Gals cheerleader Sarah Jones said his client maintains her innocence. What law enforcement officials and educators will not say is what the 26-year-old Jones has been accused of doing. Lawyer Eric Deters, whose Independence firm represented Jones in the defamation suit, also wouldn’t say what the investigation was about but said, “Sarah Jones maintains that she’s innocent, that this is just a terrible rumor and it’s my understanding that the alleged victim denies it also,” Deters said.
Jones has since gone on several television shows, from 20/20 to Anderson Cooper, to speak about the embarrassment and public scrutiny she faced after the online posts. U.S. District Judge William Bertelsman awarded her an $11 million judgment for libel and defamation in August 2010 but lawyers for the website claim their client doesn’t have to pay it. The defendants have filed a motion essentially asking that the suit be dismissed. Bertelsman heard oral arguments on the motion Dec. 9 but has not yet ruled.
The local NBC affiliate reports that she initially resigned from Dixie Heights High School "after allegations that she had an inappropriate relationship with a student." Her attorney, Eric Deters, says there's nothing to the accusations:
"The student denies it, the parents of the student are upset that this has gone where it has gone, they don't have anything bad to say about Sarah, Sarah denies it," Deters said. "There's no victim. There's nobody saying 'Hey, this happened.'"
So far, Jones has not been charged in the case.
Reminder: Don't go on television to protect your reputation. That just makes more people aware of who you are and damage your reputation. Who knows, or really cares, about this story's ending result of this former Bengals cheerleader.
