The Cincinnati Bengals gave Vontaze Burfict his first taste of NFL action on Sunday against the Browns. He was originally expected to start in place of the injured Thomas Howard, but the Bengals opened up in a nickel package so he ended up coming off the bench and playing 22 snaps at strong-side linebacker. Cincinnati's Hawkins proving doubters wrong

CINCINNATI - After a tryout with the Cleveland Browns in the spring of 2008 didn't lead to a contract, Andrew Hawkins went to work. He caddied at a high-dollar country club. He worked at a factory that made windmill engines. He volunteered with the University of Toledo football team and the school's athletic marketing department, and he served an internship with the Detroit...

Five Keys: Week Two Postmortem

Well, despite the ongoing defensive deficiencies (and boy are there), the Bengals did manage to win the game on Sunday, and that feels a heck of a lot better than last week. Still, there are glaring problems on the defense.  Ironically, the defense was supposed to carry the offense, but Sunday it was the offense staying working hard to stay one step ahead because the defense was...

Cincinnati Bengals at Washington Redskins: Week 3 NFL Pick

Cincinnati Bengals (1-1) at Washington Redskins (1-1) Before the season, I identified 5 overrated and 5 underrated teams, with the idea of betting on them (or against them) until they proved me wrong or the odds makers caught up. This served me well as I’m 10-4 this year on games involving those 10 teams  (and one of those losses is because I abandoned shipped on the Bills after...
