Moving the football hasn’t been an issue for Andy Dalton and the Bengals’ offense. Getting into the end zone, however, has been especially when they’ve gotten inside the 20-yard line. The Bengals have just 10 touchdowns in their last 26 red zone possessions covering their last eight games. They have just five touchdowns in their last 13 goal-to-go situations over those same eight games. They haven’t had a first-and-goal situation in their last two games. “We seem to move the ball on everybody but for whatever reason we have sputtered down near the red zone so we’ve got to finish drives and play efficiently,” said left tackle Andrew Whitworth. “Look at a game like against Arizona and as many times as we were in their area kicking field goals. Whether they were missed or made didn’t matter, but how many points really could have been up on the board if we were scoring touchdowns? It’s those kinds of things. It’s being able to execute enough to score seven points instead of three....

Dalton back at practice today

Andy Dalton was back in the locker room on Thursday morning and said he is ready to practice today. Dalton missed yesterday due to a bout of the flu. “I feel great. It was a tough day yesterday, but I feel a lot better than I did. I’ll be out there practicing and be ready to go,” Dalton said. “It was just a one-day thing. It was kind of out of nowhere. But I feel good now...

Katy-native Dalton returns to Houston

Saturday's game against the Texans may be Andy Dalton's first-ever NFL playoff appearance but it will certainly not be his first time on the field turf of Reliant Stadium. Dalton won a pair of high school playoffs games at Reliant as the quarterback at Katy High School, just west of Houston. A few years later he lead TCU to a Texas Bowl win over the University of Houston...

Andy Dalton Misses Practice

Cincinnati Bengals starting quarterback Andy Dalton wasn’t at practice today for what’s being called a intestinal virus. With it being only Wednesday and not an actual injury I wouldn’t be worried at all about him missing Saturday’s game. He’s pretty much just got a case of the *****, or maybe some nausea. @GeoffHobsonCin: #Bengals QB Dalton not in...

Brees and Dalton Are Great But Rodgers and Newton Are Tops

Cincinnati Bengals rookie Andy Dalton has shown a lot of poise and promise, but Cam Newton deserves the ROY nod. I have this theory–some people don’t watch sports for the love of the game…they watch just to have something to argue about. And in my mind, arguing for Drew Brees to be MVP or Andy Dalton to be offensive rookie of the year is an example of that. There...

What some are saying about Bengals’ chances in Houston

• NFL.com’s Pat Kirwan: Texans-Bengals outcome rides on two rookie quarterbacks The edge at quarterback has to go to Dalton, who is also going to be asked to carry much more of the offensive load than Yates. In Week 14, the Bengals settled for four field goals … and lost by one point. Dalton will need to make at least two touchdown passes this time around. It will...
