Bengals placekicker Mike Nugent signed his one-year franchise tender worth approximately 2.7 million. "We're happy Mike has signed in advance of our offseason camps," said Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis, "and this does not preclude our continuing to talk to Mike and his representatives about reaching a longer-term agreement. Mike has been a fine performer for us." Nugent made 10 of his 11 fourth-quarter field-goal attempts for the Bengals last season and 86.8 percent overall, rebounding from a season-ending knee injury in 2010. The eighth-year veteran has spent the past two seasons with Cincinnati. It's the second time the Bengals have used the franchise tag on their kicker. They applied the tag to Shayne Graham in 2009.
