On Thursday, the Cincinnati Bengals placed defensive end Antwan Odom on injured reserve with a knee injury. Odom has been dealing with a wrist injury since the team’s Week 5 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There were high expectations for Odom as he entered his third season with the Bengals. He got off to a fantastic start in 2009 after recording eight sacks over the first five games—including a five-sack performance against the Green Bay Packers in Week 2. Unfortunately, a ruptured Achilles’ tendon ended his season after just six games. With all of their weakness from this season, the one thing that sticks out the most for Cincinnati on defense is the pass rush—which is why they were excited to get Odom back. Instead, he played in just four games, faced a four-game suspension after testing positive for a banned substance, and is now done for the remainder of the season with this wrist injury.
