Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton has been named the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Month for October.
The second-rounder from TCU beat out No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton for the award. San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith took defensive rookie honors for the month after having 6.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a safety.
Dalton amassed 909 yards and six touchdowns against five interceptions while guiding the Bengals to a 4-0 mark in October.
Newton, the early favorite for rookie of the year honors, had 12 total touchdowns in the month, but his team went just 1-4.
