Cincinnati Bengals running back Brian Leonard left Sunday’s Hall of Fame against the Dallas Cowboys with a sprained left ankle, according to the Associated Press. He’s expected to get more tests done upon his return to Cincinnati on Monday. Leonard emerged as an effective third-down running back for the Bengals last season and became a fan favorite for his heroics in Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. With Cincinnati looking to keep the game alive on a 4th and 10, Leonard kept his balance on what appeared to be a dead play and avoided a tackle from James Farrior to leap forward for the first down. Two plays later, Carson Palmer threw the game-winning four-yard touchdown pass to Andre Caldwell in the Bengals 23-20 win. In 14 games in 2009, Leonard rushed for 87 yards and caught 30 receptions for 217 yards. He’s expected to be the third-string running back for Cincinnati this season behind Cedric Benson and Bernard Scott.
