Bengals Post:
Cincinnati Bengals WR Antonio Bryant missed his fifth-straight practice on Sunday as his knee continued to bother him, according to the team site.
Bryant signed a four-year deal for $28 million—with $8.25 million guaranteed—in March, despite struggling throughout the 2009 season with a knee injury. After an impressive 2008 season, in which he caught 83 passes for 1,248 yards and seven touchdowns, Bryant’s knee kept him limited last year in the Buccaneers’ offense—finishing with just 39 receptions for 600 yards and four touchdowns.
The major factor that drew red flags for Bryant when he signed in March was his knee. While he assured it would not be a problem, it’s obvious the Bengals may regret the signing before Bryant even gets the chance to play a single game.
With the recent signing of Terrell Owens, Bryant is expected to be used in the slot if he manages to return to full strength. If not, well, at least the Bengals’ passing game should still be much better than it was last season.
