Having established himself as an elite strong safety, Bernard Pollard was an integral part of the Ravens' Super Bowl championship run this season.
It came at a pretty hefty price, however.
According to the Baltimore Sun, Pollard played a majority of the year with six cracked ribs, an injury he initially suffered in Week 2.
After aggravating the ailment in Week 14, Pollard missed the final three games of the regular season, but returned to the playoffs in full force (just ask Stevan Ridley).
The 28-year-old thumper acknowledged that the injury is just part of the game.
"It's tough dealing with pain," said Pollard. "For us as football players, we know we're going to go through it. At the same time, that's the name of the game. Six of them, yep. Hey, it's up to us to go out there and play and we did."
