Found November 25, 2008 on Fired For Winning:
Only a miracle is going to keep Donovan McNabb in Philly beyond the next 5 games of this season. And, God willing, Andy Reid's is out the door with him. But who else are the Birds going to be missing next season? A quick look at the roster, expiring contracts, and potential cap hits has me saying goodbye to these gentleman during their farewell tour of Philadelphia. QB: Donovan McNabb - he's signed through 2013, but with a base salary of $9.2M and a cap hit of only $1.16M if he's cut, it's goodbye #5. RB: Correll Buckhalter - He's a free agent after this season (he made $1M in 2008) and I'm guessing he won't be back. It's a shame too - the guy is a warrior. FB: Dan Klecko - Thanks to Reid's ineptness Klecko is being forced to play FB. He's a valuable chip at DT, but he'll be a free agent after his one-year deal is up at the end of the season. WR: Greg Lewis - Glew is just not getting it done. On offense or special teams. The Birds will have to eat $116K on the cap to part ways with him. WR: Hank Baskett - Baskett is a restricted free agent after the season, but I'm sure the Eagles will want to hold onto him. He's a dynamic special teamer and a good hands guy at WR. Plus, it'll keep Kendra Wilkinson around the lockerroom. TE: LJ Smith - So much for earning that big, new contract. LJ was Philly's franchise designee this season, "earning" $4.5M. He'll be lucky to make half of that next year. TE: Matt Schobel - He's signed through 2010, but Schobel is pretty much worthless at this point. When he's cut it'll be a $240K cap hit. OT: Tra Thomas - Big Tra is probably the greatest OT to ever play in Philadelphia, but time seems to have caught up to him a bit. Thomas will finish off his 9-year deal at the end of the season. It's not out of the realm of possibilities for him to be back, but a lot will depend on the draft and whether Reid is retained. OT: Jon Runyan - Arguably Reid's best free agent signee, Runyan is a beast at RT. But his latest 3-year deal is up and it's pretty certain he won't continue his consecutive game streak in Philly next year. OT: Winston Justice - Another of Andy's 2nd-round busts, the man Runyan called a pussy may not get to fulfill his entire rookie deal. He has one year left after 2008, where he stands to make $1.075M. If he's cut the Birds take a $538K hit. OL: Nick Cole - Cole will be a free agent after the season. He's a useful piece but replaceable. LB: Tracy White - Who the heck knows whether the anonymous special teamer will be back. I haven't seen enough of him to think he's a must-resign guy. I would hope Joe Mays step in for him? S: Brian Dawkins - The heart and soul of so many good Eagles teams, BDawk is going to be set out to pasture at the end of the season. I'd be surprised if he came back with another team. He's obviously lost 3 or 4 steps, and the man bleeds Eagles green. Here's to Wolverine stepping out of the sun in Eagles colors. S: Sean Considine - It won't be soon enough to get this guy off the roster. Considine can't cover or tackle particularly well. Good luck finding another team. K: David Akers - After a rough start to the season Akers has turned it around a bit, but doubt still lingers about the vet's ability to make the big kick from over 40 yards. He's signed through 2010, but the Eagles can part ways with him for meager $210K cap hit.
