The coaching search ended rather quickly for the Pittsburgh Panthers, as they nabbed Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst as their new head coach.
The decision came after former head coach Todd Graham bolted for the Arizona St. job last week. Chryst is the fourth Pittsburgh coach in the last year and comes from a very successful program in Wisconsin.
He helped orchestrate a Badger offense that averages nearly 45 points and 470 yards a game. While he was a candidate for the Pittsburgh coaching job last season, one more year as an assistant has proved to be very beneficial for Chryst.
Chryst joined the Wisconsin coaching staff in 2005 as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, so he has had experience running an offense.
He was previously a tight ends coach at Wisconsin in 2002 before taking the the offensive coordinator job at Oregon State in 2003-2004.
Chryst previously served on the San Diego Chargers coaching staff from 1999-2001.
