At the conclusion of every NFL Draft, the undrafted free agent bonanza rings out in full effect over the course of the ensuing weekend. 2014 proved to be no different for hundreds of football players who were unfortunately not selected during the three-day period. Although the process has been said to be both “broken and terrible,” the story goes each year for these young men and the 32 clubs in the league. And for the San Diego Chargers, there were some very notable additions to the roster that will be attending training camp. Which, by the way, is not too far off the radar. Stop me if the name “Chris Davis” sounds familiar to you. No, I am not talking about the Baltimore Orioles’ supreme slugger in the middle of their lineup. The Chris Davis we are referring to here produced the defining play as well as the defining moment of the 2013 college football season. The Auburn defensive back is best remembered for his scintillating scamper down the sidelines of Jordan-Hare Stadium to bring his Tigers to the SEC Championship Game and knock off their dominant rival Alabama in the process. Certainly, if Davis beats the odds and makes the roster, he would be a fine addition to a secondary in need of depth and skill, and also bring another threat to the return game. The Flacco family got another player into the ranks of the league on Monday when Mike Flacco agreed to become one of the 17 members of the 2014 undrafted free agent class for the Bolts. Unlike his brother Joe however, Mike does not play under center. Instead, Mike, a product of New Haven, is a tight end, and he too could make an impact on the roster if given the opportunity, giving that position some much-needed depth as well. In addition to Mike and Chris, the Chargers agreed to terms with fifteen other undrafted free agents. You can find those men here. Who knows? Maybe they’ll become the next Tony Romo, Miles Austin, James Harrison, or even – staying close to home – Antonio Gates. Last year it was Jahleel Addae, an undersized safety from Central Michigan who shined from the beginning of training camp. At least one of the following names will likely make an impact on your 2014 Chargers. Chargers 2014 UDFA’s TE Mike Flacco, New Haven CB Chris Davis, Auburn S Alden Darby, Arizona State RB D.J. Adams, Portland State OT Ian White, Boston College WR Torrence Allen, West Texas A&M LB Colton Underwood, Illinois State DT Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe, Boise State OT Jeremiah Sirles, Nebraska LB Alvin Scioneaux, Wofford CB Greg Ducre, Washington WR Brelan Chancellor, North Texas P Chase Tenpenny, Nevada DT Tenny Palepoi, Utah WR Javontee Herndon, Arkansas WR Micah Hatfield, Oregon State OG D.J. Johnson, New Mexico You may also be interested in:Big names head the Chargers 2014 UDFA class, who is the next Jahleel Addae? What does each draft pick bring to the Chargers moving forward?Power Rankings: San Diego Chargers take a tumble in post-draft edition
