Complaints are rolling in about the new Nike jerseys by NFL players.
This season, Nike is in the first year of a multi year contract to make the official jerseys for the players. They are similar to those that Reebok previously made, but the Nike jerseys appear to be more form fitting.
A lot of the heavy set players are complaining that the jerseys make them look fat. San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Alex Boone, who is a 300 pound guard, hates the new look.
“I hate them. They are built for thin guys. It makes me look like I have big old love handles.”
According to Nike, they are designed to be a body-contoured fit, which are designed to be tight. Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrence Cody says they could keep these jerseys for the lean guys, but made better ones for the bigger guys.
Cody’s teammate Ramond Harewood said guys who are complaining are being vain. He added, “They say you have to look good to play good—I don’t believe that.”
Boone went as far to say his stomach hangs out of the bottom of the jersey. There are other players, who have been seen pulling down their jerseys to make them fit.
For the big guys in the league, Nike has to create a less form-fitting jersey and one that is more comfortable for these 300 pound guys.
