Patriots-coach-belichick
Bill Belichick is supporting the Watertown Police Department with a personalized touch. The New England Patriots coach got a Watertown Police Department hooded sweatshirt and customized it with a Patriots logo, Boston Strong ribbon, and cutoff sleeves, of course. The Watertown Police said that they got a special request from the Patriots during the week for some police hats for team employees to wear during the draft. According to Watertown Patch, there was a joke at the time that a request would come in for a hooded sweatshirt. Sure enough, the call came in the next day. Belichick showed off his hoodie during a press conference on Friday to discuss the team’s draft picks. “To support the Watertown police. Unbelievable job they did … to support the people that protect our safety & our freedom … it’s what makes it possible for us to do what we do. I’m behind them all the way,” Belichick said of the sweatshirt, via the Patriots’ Twitter. Watertown police apparently used to say ...

Report: Photo of Young Bill Belichick, a Little League Slugger in High Stirrups, Hits the Internet (Photo)

Bill Belichick  isn’t the most photogenic guy in football, but back in his preteen years, he really knew had to work the camera. A photo of the Patriots head coach was tweeted out by Stirrups Now! (a Twitter handle that claims to be “Always looking at the history of baseball and proponent of bringing stirrups back to the game”), and it shows the Hooded One rocking a killer...

The move turns...

Patriots Fans Get Behind-the-Scenes Looks at Draft Room With Bill Belichick, Robert Kraft During First Round (Video)

If there’s one thing more exciting than watching your team pick during the NFL draft, it’s going inside your favorite team’s draft room during the NFL draft. Even if it’s for nothing more than a trade. “Patriots Today” went inside the Pats draft room with head coach Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft — among others — during the first round of the 2013 NFL draft...

Patriots Make Out Like Bandits, Yet Again, Showing Value Always More Important than First-Round Splash

FOXBORO – Bill Belichick is a sucker for value. No, you probably won’t find the hoodie scouring the clearance rack at Filene’s Basement or rummaging through coupons in your local Stop&Shop, but when it comes to the NFL draft value is the word. In now 14 NFL drafts under Belichick, the Patriots have made 33 draft-day trades — 17 up and 16 down — and Thursday was no different...

In Bill I Trust: How the Patriots Won the Draft on Day One

In all of the years I have been an diehard fan of the New England Patriots, I do not recall a single time that I have called exactly what Bill Belichick will do in the first round of the draft, or any round for that matter. However, it is an extreme rarity if anybody does. Bill Belichick's drafts are similar to what the writers did to the ending of the show Lost, he purposely...

Pats take another semi-gamble at wideout in Dobson

BY DAN BEGNOCHERegardless of Bill Belichick's past misses at wide receiver in the draft, the team desperately needed an outside threat to add to its depth chart.Belichick and the New England Patriots rolled the dice once again on Friday, drafting Aaron Dobson out of Marshall with the 59th overall pick. (photo: collegetopro.com)While Dobson is precisely the outside-type receiver...

Predicting Stars and Busts: NFL Draft Trends

When the NFL added the expansion Houston Texans to its league in 2002, it brought the number of teams up to an even 32. In the eleven drafts since then, there have been 351 first round selections. Why not an even 352? I think Bill Belichick has the answer to that question. Anyway, something interesting to note about these 351 first round draft picks is that only 122 went on to reach...

Patriots should draft a wide receiver in first round

Under coach Bill Belichick the New England Patriots have drafted more offensive lineman than any other position since 2000, and have never drafted a wide receiver in the first round. For this years draft, Greg Bedard of The

Patriots Day 3 Review and Final Thoughts from the NFL Draft

It’s time for Bill Belichick and the Patriots to get to work. It’s official. The 2013 NFL Draft has come to an end and we now know the names of all 7 players selected by the New England Patriots in this years draft. Yesterday, New England drafted to fill their areas of need and brought in a pass rushing/coverage linebacker, a big wide receiver to stretch the field and two defensive...

Patriots Trade 2013 First Round Pick

The New England Patriots traded their first round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft to the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night. The Patriots surrendered the 29th pick overall and in return get four picks from the Vikings. After only having a five picks in the draft the Patriots gained picks in the 2nd (#57), 3rd (#83), 4th (102) and 7th (229). Bill Belichick is a genius. ...

The Pats Draft We’d Like To See

Way back in February, we wrote about the various draft modes Coach Bill Belichick could choose. Of those, we’ve decided to stay put with the five picks available to New England this year for our very own, very serious mock draft. Not much room to move around the board? Fine. Clean slate in 2014. For now, we’ll pick our best bets for Rounds One, Two and Three, and two picks in...

Patriots trade first-round draft pick

The New England Patriots traded their first-round pick in the NFL draft to the Minnesota Vikings for four picks Thursday night. Coach Bill Belichick shipped the 29th choice for selections in the second, third, fourth and seventh rounds this year. Those are the 52nd, 83rd, 102nd and 229th overall. With the Patriots' pick, the Vikings chose wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson...

Patriots Take Wide Receiver Aaron Dobson With Their Second Second-Round Pick

Bill Belichick had two picks in the second round and he actually used both of them. After taking linebacker Jamie Collins just minutes before at No. 52 overall, the Patriots used their other second-rounder (No. 59) on Marshall wide receiver Aaron Dobson. Dobson is a freak athlete and should provide some much-needed size on the outside for Tom Brady. He measured in at 6-foot-3, 210...

Patriots’ 2013 NFL Draft Class Has Boom, Bust, Boring Potential Written All Over It

There are many things you can say about Patriots head coach (and general manager) Bill Belichick, but when it comes to drafting, conservative is not one of them. It may appear that way when the Patriots are constantly trading down because it allows them to take more players, but typically the players they do draft are raw and let their workout numbers stand out just as much as their...
