In an age of Skip Bayless and Stephen A Smith, I usually do not care what people on ESPN say. That being said, there are still some guys who I listen to when they talk. Bill Polian is one of those guys. The former NFL GM is one of the most respected analysts in the game. Before he was one of the best General Managers in the NFL, he spent some time winning Grey Cups in the CFL. Now, Polian thinks that the NFL should adopt a rule from the CFL to help with player safety.
“I’m not so sure we shouldn’t think about think about widening the field,” Polian said. “It’s a radical idea, but I think it’s worth thinking about. You would have more space and perhaps a safer game. I say that based on my CFL experience. There are less collisions, of that type, in the Canadian game.” Basically, Polian believes that a wider field would cut down on devastating hits.
