The Buffalo Bills hired offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and defensive coordinator Mike Pettine to serve on new head coach Doug Marrone’s staff. Hackett is a familiar name in NFL circles, as his father, Paul Hackett, was a longtime quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator in the league. Nathaniel Hackett has built his own impressive resume as an offensive-minded coach. He spent the past three years working for Marrone at Syracuse University, including the past two as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks/tight ends coach. He previously spent four seasons as an offensive quality control coach with the Bills (2008-09) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2006-07). A former linebacker for U.C. Davis, Hackett broke into coaching as an assistant at Stanford from 2003-04. Pettine brings an extensive NFL resume to Buffalo, including as defensive coordinator of the division-rival New York Jets for the past four seasons.
