The San Diego Charegrs Backup QB Billy Volek is a free agent at the end of the season and he may be looking to get an opportunity to be the starting quarterback for some team. With Philip Rivers entrenched as the starting QB in San Diego, he will not have that opportunity with the Chargers as long as Philip is healthy, so he may be looking to find a new location.
The Carolina Panthers would be an interesting location for Volek to look at with the arrival of former Chargers’ coaches Ron Rivera and Rob Chudzinski as the new head coach and new offensive coordinator.
According to Steve Reed, Carolina Panthers’ writer, Volek could be an option for the Panthers. Volek would get the opportunity to start and also could mentor young QB Jimmy Clausen.
