Found May 17, 2012 on Philly Sports Nut:

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed LeSean McCoy to a five-year contract.  According to a report from ProFootballTalk the deal is worth $45 million with $20.765 full guaranteed.

In his three years with the Eagles, McCoy has rushed for over 3,000 yards, caught passes for another 1215 yards and scored 33 touchdowns.  The versatile running back scored 20 of those touchdowns in his breakout season of 2011.  So far he has been one of those rare running backs that gets better as the game goes on.  For example, his second half yards per carry is 5.3, compared to 4.3 in the first half.  And is fourth quarter average is 5.8.

His ability to cut back quickly and find a second hole when the primary one is closed is his strongest attribute. Next in line are his good hands, which have allowed him to catch on average three passes per game during his professional career and keep his number of fumbles down to five in these three years.

Since he will just turn 24 this summer, McCoy should be at peak years throughout the entire length of the contract.  I think this is a good signing for the Eagles. The last thing they needed this year was to start this season with a protracted holdout of a key play.

The challenge for the Eagles now is to keep a strong offensive line in front of McCoy so that he and the rest of the offense can continue to fly. Good job, Eagles!
