The preseason opener for the Ravens is four days away and the offensive line will be missing one key component: center Matt Birk.
Birk is dealing with back spasms and will miss the preseason opener in Atlanta on Thursday, according to multiple reports.
This shouldn’t be a big deal as Birk has never missed a start in the regular season since signing with the Ravens.

Ray Rice will be replaced for Ravens
It can be argued that the 2012 Baltimore Ravens running back core is the best in team history and starting running back Ray Rice should be worried, for two reasons. Anthony Allen, Bernard Pierce, Bobby Rainey and Damien Berry are fiercely competing for a chance to back up Rice, and you can bet that whoever gets [...]

Baltimore Ravens are playing Moneyball
The Baltimore Ravens are adding on to their front office, and in doing so, are departing a bit from the norm. Ravens LB Sergio Kindle Might Wear Helmet With Mic
One issue that continues to work against Ravens LB Sergio Kindle is the permanent loss of hearing in his left ear because of the fractured skull he sustained during the summer of 2010. To get around that, the Ravens are exploring the possibility of a helmet equipped with a microphone so Kindle can hear his teammates better on the field, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports....
Jonathan Ogden: Player profile
Imagine yourself a defensive end in 1996, actually, imagine yourself Pat Swilling, the Oakland Raiders starting right defensive end on opening day of the 1996 NFL season. You’ve been in the league 10 seasons, been to five Pro Bowl’s, you’ve had a good run, but you know you’re on the down side of your career. You’re just trying to finish out the rest of it without getting...

As we fly across the late afternoon city, August red swelter, a serene blanketing calm and wave of deep focus takes over the car and its passengers, as our silver speeding Jeep hugs the curves of winding Lombard street, expediting our arrival to today’s hallowed destination, M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Ravens DT Haloti Ngata Still Keeping On The Weight
Pro Bowl defensive tackle Haloti Ngata is still committed to playing at 345 pounds (10 pounds more than last season), although there are reports that he looks heavier than that. Ngata added the bulk because he felt he wore down last season. "Right now, I can feel the power," Ngata told the Carroll County (Md.) Times. "We'll just see how it goes. As the season goes...
Baltimore Ravens: Biggest Home Game of 2012
Growing up near D.C., the only team in the area at the time was the Washington Redskins and that is the only team I've ever rooted for.
Then in 1996, in comes the Baltimore Ravens moving into town and quickly they made noise throughout the AFC North and in the area I lived in.
No, I never converted to be a Ravens fan and my dad would appreciate that but I have a lot of respect...

Bryant McKinnie is confident that he'll get his left tackle job back. He feels healthy enough to play right now and he says that despite all the attention being paid to his conditioning, he's nearly 20 pounds lighter than he was when he was signed by the Ravens late in training camp last year.
