Here are some of the key leftover storylines, from my view point, that have come out of the past couple days so far.
1. LeGarrette Blount was once a starter for Tampa Bay, and a very good looking one at times. However, a decline in performance and a breakout rookie year from Doug Martin, and now he finds himself close to the bottom of the running back depth chart of a team over 1,300 miles north.
So, is a pay cut in order?
Yes and especially when it's Bill Belichick we're talking about here.
Blount was a restricted free agent this year, and he signed a one-year contract with the Bucs that paid him a total of $1.75 million, including $1.25 million in base salary, $350,000 in reporting bonus and a $150,000 workout bonus.
But with the Patriots, Blount has agreed to a new contract that pays him a base salary of just $630,000, and a workout bonus of just $50,000. That was the deal Blount had to agree to for the trade (which sent running back Jeff Demps and ...

According to Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com, running back LeGarrette Blount took a pay cut after being traded to the Patriots just two weeks ago.
Blount was scheduled to earn $1.2 million in base salary with the Buccaneers in 2013, with additional bonus money, but the deal was slashed to $630,000 with the Patriots (and is reduced to $358,000, via a split, if he lands on injured reserve...
The New England Patriots acquired running back LeGarrette Blunt from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week in exchange for seventh-round pick Jeff Demps. Soon after joining the Pats, Blount agreed to take a
significant pay cut, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston.
The Patriots’ agreement with the Bucs included a stipulation
that said Blount would have to agree to a pay cut after...
FOXBORO, Mass. — The minute T.J. Moe stepped on the field at Gillette Stadium to speak with the media, he was met with a question about Wes Welker.
The comparisons between the two players are obvious. Both went undrafted, both use short-area quickness and agility more than straight-line speed to get separation, both are under 6-foot (despite Moe’s generous listing) and both excel...
New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick feels like they got some good value by trading Jeff Demps to the Buccaneers for Legarrette Blount, according to Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com.
“We felt like we got good value for Blount. He’s a guy that we basically gave up [Jeff] Demps for, and Demps, I’d say, is less of a proven player and there were some other issues with...
Rookie minicamps are starting around the NFL, and the New England Patriots began with their first on-field workout of the session. While six of the team's seven draft picks were able to suit up for the start of minicamp, wide receiver Josh Boyce is listed by the team as day-to-day as he continues to recover from a broken bone in his foot, according to Field Yates of ESPN Boston...
FOXBORO, Mass. — For years now, rookie and veteran wide receivers have come to Foxboro and had difficulty picking up the Patriots’ playbook. Fortunately, rookies Aaron Dobson, Josh Boyce and T.J. Moe have heard how tough the playbook can be to learn, and they’re prepared.
Maybe it’s just naivety from the new Patriots rookies’ part, or maybe they can break the curse of the...
The New England Patriots are reshaping themselves into a new look unit.
In the midst of the departure of wide receiver Wes Welker and the uncertain immediate futures of tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, the Patriots are restocking their arsenal with wideout Danny Amendola and the recent trade for former Tampa Bay running back LeGarrette Blount.

Have you seen Tom, Juan?
Wes Welker is now a Bronco, but just because he’s not Tom Brady’s main man anymore, doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy himself at the Derby. Welker was there, hat on head, to witness a great race. Welker could be the most normal looking guy out of pads in the NFL.

FOXBORO, Mass. — New Patriots rookie wide receiver T.J. Moe may have some trouble watching the highlights from the first Patriots Super Bowl victory when they pop up on the big screen at Gillette Stadium. That’s because Moe was born and raised in Missouri, so naturally he’s a Rams fan.
Moe went out of his way to praise the Patriots organization, mentioning several times that...
RICH GET RICHER
So, apparently Tom Brady and co. have some sort of connection to the owners of Orb, who won the Kentucky Derby yesterday. You can see Brady and his crew of former Patriots: Dan Koppen, Tedy Bruschi and Wes Welker go nuts over the win with the owners. Apparently Brady didn't want to go down to the winner's circle though, implying he probably didn't have much invested...
Denver Broncos, FLAT: Although the Broncos didn't add any blockbuster picks in the draft, the addition of Wes Welker should add an extra weapon to the Broncos offense. The Broncos are still the kings of the AFC West, and they're still going to be included in any preseason Super Bowl talk, so we'll label them as just flat lining.
