Former Oregon Ducks and Auburn Tigers quarterback Bo Nix is getting Denver Broncos fans juiced up about him being their signal-caller of the future.

After an incredible season with the Ducks, one that saw him become a Heisman finalist, Nix was drafted in the first round by the Broncos, as Denver reshapes their franchise. Speaking with the media, Nix reacted to Broncos fans’ excitement, as he takes over the reins of the franchise.

“I’m super excited. Only been here for a couple of days, and I can’t wait to get out and about, and go see everything,” Nix responded. “Super excited to be here. The city is incredible. I can’t believe I get to wear a Broncos jersey and go out there and do what some of the greats have done before me. I don’t take that lightly, and I know I’m not going to take it for granted.

“But you know, obviously, pressure gives you opportunities. So the more pressure and responsibility you have, the more that you have to go out there and consistently earn it.”

There’s a lot to like about Nix. Over the course of his time in college football, Nix passed for 15,352 yards and 113 touchdowns, while rushing for 1,613 yards and 38 touchdowns as well, over three seasons with Auburn and two with Oregon.

If he can bring that level of play to Denver, there’s no reason why Bo Nix can’t be the Broncos quarterback for a long, long time, and that’s certainly what they’re envisioning at the moment.

Bo Nix reveals John Elway reached out to him after being drafted by Broncos

Moreover, Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix enjoyed being contacted by NFL legend John Elway after being drafted by the team. While speaking to reporters during Broncos rookie minicamp this past weekend, Nix talked about Elway reaching out to him.

“That was a cool text for sure,” Nix said. “Made my dad a little mad I think because that was his favorite growing up, so he was a little jealous. But it was awesome and it was kind of like ‘Wow is this really happening?’ When you’re in a special city like that, everybody supports the next generation, so that’s one thing I took from that.”

Nix is hoping to have the same success as Elway who was the Broncos quarterback from 1983 to 1998. During his time in Denver, Elway led the Broncos to five Super Bowl appearances and won two of them. He was named MVP of Super Bowl XXXIII, won the NFL MVP award in 1987 and was selected to the Pro Bowl nine times.

Elway also had success as a front-office executive for the Broncos. He was the team’s general manager from 2011 to 2020 and helped the Broncos win the Super Bowl during the 2015 season. Elway and former Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak are the only individuals to be associated with three of the Broncos’ Super Bowl wins.
