Bobby Engram was the big man on campus when he was at Penn State in the mid-90s. But after he was drafted by the Bears in ’96, he didn’t do a whole lot in the NFL.

But you know what they say, those who can’t do, teach. Not that Engram couldn’t do anything but Paul Chryst is hoping Engram can do a little more as Pitt’s new receivers coach that he could as an actual wide out.

He’s lived in Murrysville for years (or at least has a house there) even though he’s worked mainly on the west coast for most of his career. After just one year as an assistant on the 49ers staff, Engram decided to come back to the state where he thrived to see if he could pass on some of his knowledge to Pitt’s offense.

When Penn State was perfect in ’94, Engram was the go-to receiver for the ol gunslinger Kerry Collins. He was a three-time All-American and won a Biletnikoff as the nation’s best receiver. He’s still the Nittany Lions all-time leader in yards and touchdowns.

He was a second-round draft pick but other than a 1,000-yard season in ’07, Engram’s pro career was nothing special. He made some plays but he was nothing like he was in college.

He should make a big impact on Chryst’s staff. College is where he thrived so he knows what it takes, and he does a lot of work in the community and that’s always a plus. On top of that, he was coached by the best ever…guess we’ll just have to wait and see if he has his new receivers rocking black shoes with white laces like he used to do when he played in PA as a tribute to JoePa.

Fair or Foul? City Of Cleveland Giving $5 Million to Renovate League Park

Cleveland has a historic landmark in it’s Hough Neigborhood. Many people know its there, but other than a quick drive-by, there isn’t much of a reason to stop. I’m speaking of course of old League Park, the baseball field that was the one-time home of the Cleveland Indians and the Negro League Cleveland Buckeyes. The structure sits vacant on the corner of E. 66th...
