Bottom Line - Peterson and Berrian Need More Touches

The team is .500 for the first time this season, but after watching the offense put up plenty of yards and not a lot of points on Sunday is cause for concern. You had to like the fact they were able to rally late, and yes the pass interference call was one that could be debated, but the bottom line is they got it, and they were able to get the win with it. Now the team is going to have to start looking at their red zone play calling, and why they have yet to be successful when they are close to getting 400 yards of offense. They won't have the luxury of wasting points on Sunday when they take on the Bears on the road. If they score 12 points against Chicago, they will head into the bye week at 3-4. One key will be to get Adrian Peterson the ball more in those red zone situations. He has three TD's, but how about some screen passes and ways to get him into space? That would be a good first step to him having the ball in his hands in key situations. Peterson was the rookie of the year for a reason last year, and he needs to be featured even more than he is right now. Another guy that is starting to get the ball more, but needs to see it even more is Bernard Berrian. He's the teams leading WR with 436 yards and two TD's, but again, let's see him with his hands on the ball more. Berrian is a quality WR, and he is starting to gain more confidence with Gus Frerotte and the teams offense. He has 15 first downs on catches, one off of the team lead of Bobby Wade. It will be up to offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell to come up with ways to get his playmakers the ball more when it counts. Rushes up the middle on first and second down, then pass plays on third downs are not going to get it done. Peterson and Berrian are the keys, and in order to score more - they need to be seen with the ball more.
