Sean Payton has been suspended a year, effective April 1, 2012

Roger Goodell has just handed down his punishment for the Saints and BountyGate and it’s obvious he’s looking to make a statement. Sean Payton, head coach of the New Orleans Saints, has been suspended for one-year. This will be effective starting on April 1, 2012.

Also, Gregg Williams, has been suspended indefinitely. Apparently, Goodell will be able to review this after the 2012 season with the ability to reinstate him.

On top of the suspensions, the Saints have been fined $500,000 as well as Mickey Loomis for the same amount. Loomis will also suffer a 8 game suspension. The Saints will lose a 2nd round draft pick for 2012 and 2013.

Saints assistant coach, Joe Vitt was suspended for 6 games and fined $100,000.
