Rob Ryan, the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, was fired after spending two seasons in Arlington, Texas. Long-time coach Bradley Sperling notes that many fans believe Ryan took the wrong approach with his players, which led to a disappointing season. Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, finally spoke up about why he fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, according to an article on ESPN.com. Jones realized the Dallas defense was depleted by injuries all season, but every team has to fight through the same issues and it appears that wasn’t an acceptable excuse for him. Even with those injuries, Jones says there are two particular games that jump out to him when the defense was fairly healthy. In the second week of the season, the Cowboys fell 27-7 to the Seattle Seahawks, who at that time were still figuring things out offensively with rookie quarterback Russell Wilson. Two weeks later, Dallas lost at home 34-18 to the Chicago Bears. The Seattle loss could be put on R...

The Dallas Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan earlier this week. Ryan told reporters that he would be unemployed for about five minutes before landing another job in the NFL. Several rumors suggested that Ryan would join his brother Rex in New York with the Jets in need of a defensive coordinator, but that reunion is likely not to happen now. Reports are suggesting this...

Rob Ryan denied that he was hired to be the St. Louis Rams' defensive coordinator. The New York Post reported the hire on Friday. Ryan was recently fired as the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator. The Cowboys hired 72-year-old Monte Kiffin as Ryan's replacement. "I'm on a beach and have talked to nobody and have no comment," Ryan told ESPN Dallas. The...

By the Numbers: Monte Kiffin vs. Rob Ryan

Monte Kiffin will return to the NFL in 2013 as the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator. It has been four days since the Dallas Cowboys officially hired Monte Kiffin to take over as defensive coordinator. If you respect Larry Lacewell’s opinion—and a certain owner obviously does—you have reason for optimism. The former scouting director has told several reporters that Kiffin will...

Rob Ryan reportedly close to deal with Rams

It looks like New York is only big enough for one of the Ryan twins after multiple reports Friday said  that Rob Ryan was nearing a deal with the St. Louis Rams as their defensive coordinator. Rob Ryan was the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator until he was fired Tuesday.  Ryan's dismissal, along with the New York Jets canning of defensive coordinator Mike Pettine and linebackers...

From a Jack to a King: Dallas Cowboys hire Monte Kiffin to replace Rob Ryan

Rob Ryan is a defensive genius. If you don’t believe me, just ask him: “I inherited a team that was 31st in the league in defense and made them better,” Ryan told ESPNDallas.com’s Tim MacMahon. “I (expletive) made them a hell of a lot better. I’ll be out of work for like five minutes.” Ryan, true to his genetic predisposition, was always one to over-promise and under...

Rob Ryan Follows Brother Rex’s Footsteps to Beach, Says Reports of Joining Rams Not True

Those Ryan brothers sure do like the beach. Shortly after brother Rex Ryan was caught lounging in the sun with a much-talked-about tattoo, former Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan went to catch some rays. How do we know this? Well, because teams may be looking to ask him to join their coaching staffs, and he had to give some reason why he wasn’t answering their calls. As Calvin...

Gus Bradley is the Eagles New Coach, Maybe! Or not!

Photo via Seahawks.com After days of rumors and snubs, a seeming lack of urgency on the part of the front office, and about 3,000 too-many mentions of the name "Gruden", the Eagles finally have their next head coach. Possibly. But, they definitely do. Maybe. According to former NFL-er Kevin O'Connell of San Diego's 1360 AM, Seattle defensive coordinator Gus Bradley...
