Washington-redskins
The Washington Redskins have matched the New England Patriots big play for big play in the first half at FedEx Field this afternoon as the teams are tied 20-20 at halftime. The scoring started on Washington's second possession, as quarterback Rex Grossman was sacked and fumbled the ball in the end zone after Zoltan Mesko's punt had pinned Washington back at its own 4-yard line. Vince Wilfork recovered the ball in the end zone to give New England a 7-0 lead. Washington cut their deficit to 7-3 with a 24-yard Graham Gano field goal on the ensuring possession, but Tom Brady needed only two plays to move the Patriots 60 yards in response. First, Brady hit Rob Gronkowski for a 49-yard catch-and-run that brought the ball to the Washington 11. Then, Brady found Gronkowski again from 11 yards out to make the score 14-3. However, the Redskins were quick to respond. First, Grossman found Jabar Gaffney with a 9-yard touchdown pass to cap an eight-play, 84-yard drive that was kept alive...

Tom Brady Deserved Tongue Lashing From Bill O'Brien and Other Leftover Patriots Thoughts

Unlike Charlie Weis and Josh McDaniels, Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien has always remained a relatively obscure name around the NFL. At least he had until Sunday afternoon. Getting in a shouting match with Tom Brady tends to blow your cover. In this case, O'Brien was absolutely, 100 percent, unequivocally right in his decision to step up against Brady, who had...

Tom Brady: “I deserved it”

By now, everyone has probably seen Tom Brady and his offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien getting after it on the sideline Sunday.  You may have even seen the obligatory makeup man hug at the end of the game. After Brady had time to cool down, he laughed off the yelling match. “I threw a pretty bad…

Can Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos be Stopped?

It just keeps happening and there is no explanation for the madness. The Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow have done it again and realistic MVP talks are underway. Turn to the...

Barry Cofield: Redskins' defense needs to make Tom Brady feel the pressure

Barry Cofield once helped deny Tom Brady one of football's greatest accomplishments. His New York Giants stifled the New England Patriots' jet-powered offense and ruined their perfect season in Super Bowl XLII. The stakes are incalculably lower on Sunday when the Washington Redskins host New England, but to Cofield, the ...

Patriots Almost Give Game Away to Lowly ‘Skins

Week after week there are articles and posts and blurbs and blogs about how potent the New England Patriots offense is, each with caveats about how equally as horrendous their pass defense is. Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins was yet another focal point of this years Patriots narrative. Some are in the camp that a win-is-a-win-is-a-win. Those camp members also guzzle...
