EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - OCTOBER 25: Brandon Jacobs #27 celebrates with teammate Justin Tuck #91 of the New York Giants after Jacobs ran for a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals on October 25, 2009 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Jared Wickerham/Getty Images)

Brandon Jacobs has been without a home this past month, but is now headed to the Bay to play for the San Francisco 49ers.

Adam Schefter is reporting that Jacobs has agreed to terms with the team he helped defeat in the NFC Title Championship as a member of the eventual Super Bowl Champion New York Football Giants. Jacobs joins Mario Mannningham, his teammate in New York as well, in the parade of offensive talent to the 9ers, who also added Randy Moss early in free agency.

Jacobs, the Giants all-time leader in rushing TDs, will look to lighten the load for star running back, Frank Gore.

When Jacobs isn’t busy tip-toeing around line of scrimmage, he is one of the more feared backs in the league, due to his linebacker frame. This is most certainly a welcome addition to Jim Harbaugh’s power football style.

Few teams had expressed interest in Jacobs, who was released by the Giants one month ago after 7 years of service in East Rutherford. There was rumors that the Giants might take him back, but at a much lower salary.

Jacobs was due $4 million with the Giants before his release, and it is likely that he is playing for less in San Fran, as well.
