There is a cute little wrestling organization based out of Orlando, Fl known as TNA Wrestling. They rarely make any headlines, and have become the organization of choice for WWE rejects and it is the place that old wrestlers go to die. You look at their roster and it has names like Hulk Hogan, Kurt Angle, and Jeff Hardy. All former headliners in the WWE, but it still has never really generated popularity. The few times it has been mentioned, it has been because of a celebrity appearance. The most notable appearance was that of Pacman Jones, who “wrestled” while he was suspended by the NFL. Jones never had any physical involvement, thought he was tag champs with Ron Killings (now known as R-Truth in the WWE). Another football player is ready to take to the squared circle, and that is running back of the World Champion New York Football Giants, Brandon Jacobs.
The 6’4″ 260 lb back has plans to appear at this Thursday’s Impact Wrestling, a weekly episodic show put on by TNA. It isn’t known as to how heavily involved Jacobs will be, but he says he is going to “get into a little scuffle” with Angle. Jason Pierre-Paul was originally supposed to participate, but pulled out of the event citing exhaustion from all the celebrating following the Super Bowl win. Jacobs gladly accepted the offer.
This isn’t a move too removed for Jacobs. He claims he would like to get involved with boxing following his NFL career. Granted, boxing isn’t quite the same as wrestling, or as some call it, sports entertainment, but Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, and Riddick Bowe all crossed over during their fighting careers. Hopefully Jacobs doesn’t tear his quad, as he is entering into his final season with the Giants and is seeking a new contract.
