The 49ers released WR Braylon Edwards on Tuesday. The news was broadcasted immediately by Edwards himself on twitter. He wrote, ”I was released today by the 49ers due to my injury that required more time to rehab and hasn’t allowed me to re-sync with the offense....”  For those who are unaware, Edwards had a knee injury which required surgery and rehabilitation that caused him hardships this season. Edwards had 15 catches and 181 yards and no touchdowns in eight games with five starts for the NFC West Division Champion 49ers (12-3) putting him in the “Ochocinco category”. In comparison to last season, he had exactly 5 times the amount of production in total yards with the Jets in 2010 with 53 receptions. At least Edwards managed to nail a $3.5 million one-year contract with the 49ers before getting written off. He also found time to wish the 49ers the best of luck in the post season on his twitter page.
