After a short retirement, WR Randy Moss has been signed by the 49ers according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Moss, who last played for the Titans took a brief one year retirement to “Take care of some business in life” and said that he’d like to make a comeback to the league. Moss worked out with the Saints last week, and was scheduled to work out with the 49ers this morning. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported after Moss’ Saints workout that he “lit it up and looked like the young Randy” This was apparantly true as Moss and the 49ers have agreed on a one-year deal. Details of the deal have not been released as of now.

Will Moss see success with the 49ers as he did the Patriots?

Since joining the league in 1998, Moss has brought in just under 15,000 receiving yards and has accounted for 153 Touchdowns. His last successful playing days were with the Patriots, where he was traded to the Vikings later to be waived, and ultimately being claimed by the Titans before retiring.

Moss will join a 49ers receiving corps that accounted for just one reception in the NFC Championship game against the Giants. A group that includes Michael Crabtree and Kyle Williams, the 49ers needed to address the position as Ted Ginn Jr and Josh Morgan are both scheduled for free agency. Expect the WR slot to be a big target for the 49ers as free agency and the draft unfold.
