The Bucs have cut Keydrick Vincent.
We commented earlier that the Bucs would be without three starters this weekend. It turns out that the Bucs really only had four in mind as they have chosen to release guard Keydrick Vincent. The team has promoted tackle Will Barker from the practice squad to active roster. GM Mark Dominik says the progress of the other young linemen on the team allowed for the team to waive Vincent:
“Why would we release Keydrick? For us, (Ted) Larsen played OK. Certainly he had his hiccups in the game, but he did play well,” said Dominik. “We are encouraged by where Faine’s progress is going, which will give us some depth again. Much like LeGarrette (Blount) or some of the other players that we brought in later, the young guys that we have like Larsen, Barker, and (Brandon) Carter on the practice squad have got the system down and are comfortable with the system.”
The plan now is to use Jeremy Zuttah at center until Jeff Faine returns before sliding him to left guard, the spot vacated by Vincent. Dominik also confirmed that the team would indeed be without Jeremy Trueblood on Sunday in Arizona which is why Will Barker was brought up from the practice squad, to provide depth behind James Lee and Donald Penn.
Keydrick Vincent, 32, is in his 10th season. He missed last weekend’s game with back spasms and had been held out of practice this week as well. Chances are he wouldn’t have played this weekend regardless of having been cut or not.
