There hasn't been any All-22 Film released for the Colts' game yet this week, but one film breakdown that we can do is sacks.  Luck was sacked three times on Sunday, although his pocket presence and willingness to run was much better than last week against the Jets, leading to two rushing touchdowns this week. The offensive line this week played their best game of the season, yet Luck still took three sacks.  Who was to blame for these sacks? Luck or the offensive line?  As usual, the answer likely lies somewhere in the middle.  3rd Quarter, 4:45 left 1st and 10 on the Jets' 22 This play would set off a series of negative plays that would stall the Colts' drive, leading to just a field goal. After a motion out by Fleener, the Colts have two WRs split left (Wayne and Avery), Fleener split left, and TE Allen on the left side of the line, with Ballard in the backfield.  The Browns will blitz all three linebackers, while the right and left defensive ends drop ...

2012 Indianapolis Colts still coming together

A theme Indianapolis Colts fans have unfortunately become very familiar with over the last six years is missed games to key players during the regular season -- and in the post season. To start out the 2012 season draft pick Josh Chapman was placed on the physically unable to perform list, former starting middle linebacker Pat Angerer suffered a foot injury that kept him out of the...

Could Josh Chapman be the answer in the middle?

The Indianapolis Colts have struggled in the middle of their defensive line, both against the run and in putting pressure on the quarterback by limiting the pocket. The return to practice of rookie fifth round pick Josh Chapman could bring some welcome relief to a position beset by injuries.   At 6'0" and 316 pounds, Chapman has the physical stature of the prototypical...

Following a Legend: Andrew Luck Week 7 vs. Cleveland Browns

The Colts played a strange game in Week 7, but strange usually still beats bad like the game they played last week.   Andrew Luck became the first Indianapolis quarterback to rush for two touchdowns in a game since Ricky Turner (who?) in 1988. After scoring 17 points on their first four drives, the Colts were scoreless on their last five possessions. The Browns also failed to...

Phil Taylor to start practicing this week

During his Monday press conference with the Cleveland media, Pat Shurmur revealed that Phil Taylor will be returning to practice after missing the first seven games of the season. And not a moment too soon, considering that Ahtyba Rubin wasn’t able to play the full game against the Colts with his calf injury. Maybe someday the Browns will have a full complement of defensive linemen...

Season over for Browns LB Scott Fujita

Browns linebacker Scott Fujita will be placed on injured reserve with a neck injury, ending his stormy season. Fujita, one four players suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for his role in the New Orleans Saints' bounty scandal, was inactive the past two games. He last started on Oct. 7 in a game against the New York Giants. Browns coach Pat Shurmur does not know if Fujita...

Trent Richardson Injury: Browns RB Benched

While Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson was able to start Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, the rookie was eventually removed from the game by coach Pat Shurmur, reports Kareem Copeland of NFL.com. "We just kind of didn't feel like he could play as effective as he'd been," Shurmur said. "He wanted to play." ...

Chappell: Playoffs? PLAYOFFS?

According to Mike Chappell, and to the current AFC standings, the Colts are right on the verge of - brace yourselves - a playoff conversation. A break down of this year's AFC, through 7 weeks of play: 1. Houston (6-1)2. Baltimore (5-2)3. New England (4-3)4. Denver (3-3)5. San Deigo (3-3)6. Miami (3-3)7. Pittsburgh (3-3)8. Indianapolis (3-3)9. New York Jets (3-4)10. Tennessee...

Cleveland Browns: Week 8 NFL Power Rankings (#29)

Last week: 31 (+2) Record: 1-6 Despite their loss, the Browns move up. Last week, I mentioned I consdered putting the Browns ahead of the rest of the 1 win teams and some of the 2 win teams because they’ve been competitive in every game despite their record (worst in the league at 1-6). This [...]
