Ever since the Bengals beat the Rams and the Jets lost to the Eagles, there have been plenty of questions about where the Bengals stand in terms of tiebreakers and what needs to happen for them to get the sixth and final playoff spot. There is still a chance that the Chargers, Raiders or Titans could work their way into the mix too, but they need help. For the moment, we’ll focus on the Bengals and Jets since both are 8-6. EASIEST SCENARIOS FOR BENGALS TO GET IN Bengals win out and Jets lose to either the Giants or Dolphins. If the Bengals lost to the Cardinals on Saturday and the Jets beat the Giants, the Bengals would need to beat the Ravens and have the Jets lose to the Dolphins. Both teams would be 9-7 but Bengals would win tiebreak based on better conference record. NOW THE COMPLICATED ONE … Say both teams win out and finish 10-6. They haven’t played each other this year so head-to-head doesn’t apply, they both would be 7-5 in the conference and 3-2 when facing common opponent...

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes…

FLORHAM PARK–The good news for Jets fans is that QB Mark Sanchez appears to be OK after the beating he took against the Eagles. He went through the early part of practice as he normally does and didn’t appear to be throwing any differently. Asked about it, Sanchez wouldn’t go into detail, beyond saying that he took a couple of big hits, he’s sore, but he’s fine and he...

Jets' Sanchez practices full, McKnight, Kerley sit

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez was a full participant in practice, as expected, while running back Joe McKnight sat out with a separated shoulder.

George Bretherton explains why the Jets are still in the six spot. [NYT Fifth Down] It was a long day all around for the Jets. [Star-Ledger] Sanchez said he’s OK injury-wise after the game. Jets’ Ryan Already Taking Shots at the Giants

Forget that the New York Jets were just throttled by the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Rex Ryan is already taking shots at their cross town rival. As the New York Giants prepare to play the New York Jets both teams are in desperate need of a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. While he respects Tom Coughlin “immensely,” Ryan said he never came to New York “to be a little...

Mark Sanchez sat on the bench as the training staff worked on his neck and shoulders. The New York Jets quarterback looked uncomfortable after he was awkwardly dragged to the turf trying to escape the rush.

Moose, Goose on Giants-Jets

As I first reported in a Twitter exclusive back on Dec. 14, Fox will deploy its No. 2 team of Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston and Tony Siragusa for Saturday's big Giants-Jets tilt.

With Giants on the way, Jets left to wait and wonder

It wasn't supposed to be this way for the New York Jets, who were supposed to take the next step this year. Expectations placed upon the Jets, largely put there by the weight of their own hype and talk had the team winning the AFC East for the first time in 2002 and just the third time in franchise history. Now on Sunday with the New England Patriots winning their ninth divisional...

Five Players to Watch: Eagles- Jets

Editor’s note: Steve Fini breaks down five players who will decide today’s Eagles-Jets showdown. Mark Sanchez (QB/Jets) - Sanchez is like most of the quarterbacks the Eagles have faced this season. He’s solid, can make a play or two, but is turnover prone and his coaches don’t trust him enough to win them the game. Luckily for New York, the Eagles have made these types...

Offensive Coordinator / Male Model of the Year

Newsday is reporting today that with all the coaching candidacies open this year, Brian Schottenheimer is “expected to be [a] hot [commodity] on the open market.” Happy landings in Miami, Brian … … where the Jets can pistol whip you twice a season as you busy yourself on the sideline drawing up the perfect trips left formation. That Schottenheimer is SO HOT right now!!!
