The surprise today was that Patriots CB Ras-I Dowling was placed on Injured Reserve just a day after the team had released CB Leigh Bodden.
After speaking with a source with knowledge of his condition, here is what I can report:
An MRI taken over the past few days revealed that Dowling suffered a torn tendon in his leg. The result was pain in his hip, which is what was stated on the Injury Report.
Dowling had been battling it all year, and the thought was, let it improve during the bye week. Yet it didn’t improve after the bye week. It was especially painful, even debilitating, after a day of practice, which is why he would practice, then need to sit for a few days.
