MIKE LEACH CONTINUES to prime the Texas pipeline to Washington State. The latest verbal commitment for the Cougars is an outside linebacker prospect -- his prep coach describes him as an uber-physical defender who can flat out run.

Many coaches view Twitter as nothing more than a distraction, and Mike Leach has apparently joined that group. Effective earlier this week, Leach has banned his Washington State players from using Twitter in any capacity or tweeting anything — regardless of the message.
According to The Spokesman-Review, Washington State athletic director Bill Moos said some of the WSU players...
PULLMAN – Washington State head coach Mike Leach has banned his team from Twitter. In a day and age in which social media seemingly has no filters, Leach introduced some, making the call Tuesday that enough was enough. His players are now forbidden from tweeting and the consequences for doing so will be dire.
IF YOU WONDERED whether there was a catalyst resulting in the ban on player use of twitter by football head man Mike Leach on Tuesday, there was. The following is from the Murrow News Service at Washington State.
SPOKANE -- Mike Leach made his in-season Spokane Cougar Club luncheon debut on Monday and told a full house that the Washington State Cougars need to exorcise the ghosts of seasons past. He also talked a little recruiting, specifically on the o-line needs for the 2013 class.
SPOKANE – Mike Leach says his Washington State football team has a lot of great people. But for three hours on Saturdays, he’d prefer to see something else out on the field.

SOCIAL MEDIA and the winning formula. It's a topic our broadcasting team has talked about on air this season -- specifically how social media can/does affect leadership on the Cougs and on college football teams in general. With Mike Leach on Tuesday banning his players from using twitter, it's a topic that deserves scrutiny. Did Leach make the right call? You better believe...
What plays in Lubbock, Texas is the unique, the eccentric, the spooky. It just is one of those places. One of the first UFO "sightings" happened in Lubbock in 1951. Buddy Holly was born there. Mike Leach swung his sword and dispensed dating advice and weather reports there.
And I'll tell you Tommy Tuberville, the third-year Texas Tech football coach, is a little different...
IT IS NO secret that Washington State has struggled to move the ball this season. Now the Cougars (2-5 overall, 0-4 conference) face No. 19 Stanford that some regard as the conference’s top defensive unit. WSU coach Mike Leach discussed that topic and the Cougars’ offense during Tuesday’s Pac-12 coaches’ teleconference.
This week we mourn the loss of the greatest (creepiest?) voyeuristic experience Coug fans have ever had as Mike Leach has banned twitter. No longer will we be able to know everything every player is thinking and doing at any moment of the day. It seems that despite a seminar on the risks of social media, some players demonstrated the extraordinary thickness of their heads by continuing...
IF EVER THERE was a good time for a Saturday bye, last week was it for Washington State. The rested Cougars head into the final five games of their 2012 season, starting this Saturday at No. 19 Stanford. Will the rest help the Cougars (can’t imagine it will hurt)? It’s hard to say, because the track record of bye weeks under Mike Leach is mixed.
PULLMAN – According to head coach Mike Leach, the Cougars will be without a promising young cornerback for 2012 – and possibly for good. Freshman cornerback Ray Ford will not be returning to the team this season after failing to qualify through the NCAA Eligibility Center. Leach said the Center left a lot of questions unanswered.
Happy Monday to you, Followers. Hope you had a great weekend.
