Joe Douglas waves the magic trade wand again during the offseason—the New York Jets trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to break the news. The Jets are sending a conditional third-round pick in 2026 to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for edge rusher Haason Reddick.
Trade: Eagles are sending edge-rusher Haason Reddick to the New York Jets for a conditional 2026 third-round pick that could be a second, sources tell ESPN.
The 2026 pick becomes a 2nd if Reddick has 67.5% playtime this season and has 10 or more sacks. If not, it’s a 2023 third pic.twitter.com/AcjiqZE2L4

In essence, the deal is Bryce Huff and the 2026 third-round pick for Reddick, because the Eagles signed the former Jet during the first wave of free agency.
The Jets will take on Reddick’s base salary of $14.25 million, a roster bonus of $1 million, a workout bonus of $250,000, and an additional bonus of $500,000 for a total cap hit of $16 million. Reddick leaving will leave the Eagles with a dead cap hit of $20.515 million.
The Jets can reduce that salary to $1.21 million and spread the remaining $13.04 million over five years (four void years). That would reduce the 2024 cap hit to $3.818 million. They would still pay Reddick $14.25 million this season.
Many Jets fans have called Douglas “Trader Joe”. With the latest Jets trade, he continues to earn that deserved nickname.
Douglas’s trades include:
This concludes the pre-draft offseason for the Jets, most likely. It also sets them up for a lot of offensive picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.
If Douglas can hit in another draft, the Jets could be set up for a good season in 2024. Many fans were upset that the Jets couldn’t re-sign Bruce Huff at the beginning of free agency. However, things are rapidly changing for the Jets. Finally, those things may end the long playoff drought. Time will tell on that one, but it seems like it will.
