Brett Favre shares strong opinion about Jordan Love

Aaron Rodgers has praised Jordan Love's performance multiple times throughout the season. But he is not the only former Green Bay Packers quarterback excited about the team's future at the most important position in football. Hall of Famer Brett Favre has also liked what he's seen.

"All I can say is wow," Favre told TMZ. "Right now, he's playing as good as any quarterback in the league."

During the interview, Brett Favre admitted that he didn't think before the season that the Packers could make the playoffs. After all, the Packers didn't make the postseason in 1992, Favre's first year as the starter, nor in 2008, when Aaron Rodgers took over.

Favre's first playoff game happened after the 1993 season, when the Packers beat the Detroit Lions 28-24 in Michigan, after being a wild card team — they were third in the old NFC Central. Green Bay ended up eliminated the following week, losing to the Dallas Cowboys 27-17.

Now, the Packers will face exactly the Cowboys, and Brett Favre expects a difficult game. At the same time, Favre is confident about what Green Bay can do.

"Dallas is going to be a tough opponent," the former quarterback said. "But I'd hate to be the team that has to play the Packers in the playoffs."

Message

Favre played 24 playoff games in his career, 22 of them for the Packers, with 12 wins and 10 losses — including a Super Bowl championship after the 1996 season. That experience puts Favre in position to give Jordan Love important advice.

"You can only play in your first playoff game one time," Favre mentioned. "Enjoy the moment."

Succession

Brett Favre was acquired by the Packer for a first-round pick in 1992, one year after being drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round. He became a starter after an ankle injury for Don Majkowski and never looked back.

The Packers succession plan has been similar since. Green Bay drafted Aaron Rodgers in 2005, when Favre was still playing at a high level, and the new quarterback took over after sitting on the bench for three years. The same thing is happening now.

Jordan Love was a first-round pick in 2020. The situation got more extreme because Rodgers won the MVP award the following two seasons, but the Packers followed their plan anyway. Curiously enough, both Favre and Rodgers were traded to the New York Jets.

Favre spent only one year in New York, before finishing his career after two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.
