Found August 06, 2008 on The Hungry Actor:
Tony Kornheiser came up with the perfect description for Brett Favre. Today on PTI Tony referred to Favre as Hamlet and followed that by saying he is waiting for Favre to start barking out signals in Danish. Absolutely perfect. Rather than insult your intelligence by explaining why it makes sense I encourage anyone who didn't get it to read the play. Agree? Disagree?

  • Since I don't understand this post, I figured the best way to respond is with a crude Photoshop that may or may not be tangentially related.

  • thats beautiful. beyond the theatrical reference it makes no sense but its pretty

Hamlet can't make up his mind about what he wants to do and it leads to a tragedy-hence the brett favre comparison.
  • I think this is a pretty loose comparison...its nowhere near a "perfect description" for Brett Favre. Hamlet's indecision stemmed from an inability to exact revenge. This is by no means a revenge scenario. Its about a guy who doesn't know what the hell he wants. Hamlet knew what he had to do, just not how to do it. I usually agree with Hornkeiser, but in this case, I think he was just going for an intellectual metaphor.

    No dice, in my opinion.
  • Hamlet can't decide what he wants to do. Believe the ghost or not, kill himself or not, kill claudius or not etc etc. Favre cant decide to retire or not and both of their indecisions lead to a ridiculous situation. I thought it was a beautiful metaphor that works very well.

But with all that said i see your point thanks!
