Found July 01, 2012 on Larry Brown Sports:
For 16 years, Brett Favre was the face of the Green Bay Packers before an unretirement led to him being shipped out in what all amounted to an ugly sports divorce. He went and chased massage therapists and sideline reporters (allegedly) during a lackluster year with the Jets. And then he did age-defying things his first year in Minnesota, followed by a year of doing age-obliging things. But it was during those years away from Green Bay, especially the years with the conference-rival Vikings, that Favre fell out of Packers fans’ good graces. The lack of compliments for Aaron Rodgers and also the thinly veiled shots directed at his successor probably didn’t help Favre’s standing either. However, now it seems Favre is working on mending fences. That starts by paying Rodgers those compliments Favre seemed so unwilling to give in the first place. “Aaron Rodgers, I knew when I left, this guy has all the tools,” Favre said in an interview with NFL Network. “He can beat you with his feet. H...

Morning Huddle - Favre, Packers reunion will happen in time

We joke about Brett Favre a lot, but this guy was one of the best. Brett Favre left Green Bay in about the worst possible way. He had retired, then he decided to comeback. That didn't sit well with the Packers who were moving on with Aaron Rodgers as their starting quarterback. The episode culminated when the Packers traded Favre to the Jets, ending his run as the Packers'...

Vikings QB coach: Ponder has “come light years”

Getty Images Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks coach Craig Johnson says that second-year quarterback Christian Ponder is playing a lot better than he did as a rookie last season. “I think there’s no question, he’s come light years,” Johnson said, according to “Obviously, getting a chance to work out a lot of the kinks, a lot of the problems that you find out...

Packers’ McCarthy not over playoff loss to Giants

For the majority of last season, the Green Bay Packers were the toast of the NFL as the defending Super Bowl Champions. They tore through their schedule to achieve an impressive 15-1 record. However, when the playoffs began, they ran into the wrong team at the wrong time. The New York Giants were coming off [...]

Report: Favre doesn't answer Pack's invite

It appears as if Brett Favre isn't ready to make up with the Green Bay Packers quite yet. In an interview with ESPN Milwaukee, former Packers president and CEO Bob Harlan revealed that he suggested to the Packers Hall of Fame committee that they extend an invitation to Favre to attend former Packers coach Mike Holmgren's enshrinement in late July. The Hall of Fame committee...

Vikings expect Percy Harvin to attend Training Camp

It’s become well known that Percy Harvin is upset with several situations in Minnesota, including his contract status and his playing time. However, the Vikings say they fully expect him to attend Training Camp. Even though he originally demanded to be traded, it sounds like Harvin has backed off and that he will return for Training Camp. The Vikings will certainly not be trading...

Green Bay Packers Passing Attack Myth

So the Green Bay Packers have abandoned the run and only pass, correct?  While they pass much more than they run, there are a number of teams that have a higher pass to run ratio than the Packers.   As illustrated by the graphic below, division rival Detroit Lions have a more frequent passing attack than anyone else in the league. The biggest shocker to me is that Tennessee, with...

So Clay Matthews Wasn’t A Tiny Thor Kid?

Over the weekend, one of them innernet wags tweeted this picture of a kid with a lush, blond flowing mullet to Clay Matthews, who retweeted it with a vague jokey comment, leading some to believe that the image is actually of a young Claymaker. The mistake is understandable, as it’s fun to believe people exhibited their most recognizable physical traits as early as childhood. As...

Does Aaron Rodgers deserve this recognition, and is he actually the best overall player in the NFL? Yes, he is not only the best quarterback in the NFL, but he is the best player overall. Let's take a closer...

AJ Hawk is apparently ready for the NFL season to begin. This video comes via Off The Bench and shows AJ playing touch football at a charity golf outing in Warren, Ohio. No big deal… Except as you’ll see, AJ shoves the recipient of a Troy Smith (Former Heisman Trophy winning QB) pass into a [...]

Who The Heck Is Herb Taylor?

There are plenty of little-known rookies on the Packers’ current roster, but diehard fans know plenty about all the returning veterans. Well, almost all the returning veterans. Herb Taylor was signed last December, and even though he was part of the team for the final three games of the season, he’s the forgotten man when it comes to projecting which offensive linemen will be...

Morning Huddle - Bloguin edition

A.J. Hawk, you need to wrap up when you tackle. In this piece, Kyle Rodriguez of Colts Authority looks at some of the similarities between the Colts' fan base and other teams' fanbases. The perception, as pointed out by Rodriguez, is that Colts fans are fair weather fans. Being a Hoosier myself, I can tell you that there's no comparison between Colts or Patriots fans...
