Found July 26, 2012 on Larry Brown Sports:
This week marks the start of training camp for teams across the NFL, and you had to know at least one player was going to make an unexpectedly loud entrance. What you may have had trouble guessing is that the man to do it would be Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel. Keisel, who has become as well-known for his insane beard as he has for his energetic play on the field, showed up to Steelers camp on Wednesday in a huge orange tractor. “I love driving these things because it reminds me of my childhood,” Keisel said according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. “I grew up swathing hay and plowing fields and planting fields. I grew up in Wyoming driving one of these bad boys working on a farm. Hard work pays off. You have to deal with adversity, all the things we have to deal coming into this camp. “It took me maybe an hour. I got some looks. People were like, ‘What is this guy doing?’” You hear that? Not only did Keisel drive an hour to camp in a bad-ass farm tractor, he also has...

Mike Wallace Expected To Report Soon According To Teammates

Pittsburgh Steelers restricted free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace will not be reporting today to Latrobe for the start of training camp, but optimism is growing that he will be arriving in the next several days. Both Emmanuel Sanders and Keenan Lewis told the media today in interviews upon their arrival that they expect Wallace to arrive over the course of the next week. Lewis...

Brett Keisel’s Tractor Entrance At Steelers Training Camp

Brett Keisel wins the 2012 training camp entrance of the year award. Name another guy who drove a tractor like 20 miles to Latrobe, PA for Steelers training camp. You can’t. AND…Keisel had his luggage in the loader. AND…the guy showed up with that grizzly beard. AND…it’s like 120 degrees in PA with the humidity. show us a rookie who has the guts to not sing his...

Steelers suspend Wallace talks

The Steelers reportedly are suspending contract negotiations with wide receiver Mike Wallace who is looking for a long-term deal.

Steelers Executive Omar Khan Gets Promotion & Title Change

Not much to report just yet on the day that the Pittsburgh Steelers report to Latrobe for training camp. The real news will not start filtering in until later on in the day, closer to the 4:00 p.m. reporting deadline. The only real thing to report thus far is that Omar Khan, the Steelers Business and Football Administration Coordinator, now has a promotion and a title change,...

Steelers WR Brown signs extension

The Steelers signed wide receiver Antonio Brown to a five-year extension that will keep him in Pittsburgh through 2017. Brown, voted Pittsburgh's most valuable player by teammates last season, was entering the final season of the three-year contract he signed when he was drafted out of Central Michigan in 2010. He would have been eligible for restricted free agency after this...

Steelers To Use Veteran Cap Credits Again In 2012

If you have been reading this site for a while now, and listening to the podcast, you have heard me mention the veteran cap credits the Pittsburgh Steelers once again have that their discretion to use towards the salary cap this season. In short, these cap credits are in the new CBA to help teams gradually step up to the increase in the salary cap that is expected to take place...

Will Ben Roethlisberger still take too many sacks?

Will Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger take too many sacks in 2012?  In short, the answer is yes. Will it be less than in the past? Almost certainly the number of sacks should go down. Why will the sacks go down? Generally speaking, Todd Haley was brought in to specifically change to an offense that [...]

Thin Certainly Seems To Be “In” At Inside Linebacker

The trend to be thin is in. That is of course if you are an inside linebacker. Maybe thin is a bad adjective to use, but lighter certainly isn't. The further we get away from 2012 NFL, the more the selection of Miami linebacker Sean Spence by the Pittsburgh Steelers makes sense. Linebackers coach Keith Butler laid down the reasoning behind the selection of Spence, who weighed...

Report: Mike Wallace’s agent didn’t advise him to hold out

Getty Images According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace decided on his own to hold out. Wallace’s agent Bus Cook had nothing to do with his decision to hold out from reporting to training camp. “According to sources, Wallace is driving the bus on this one. It is the wide receiver’s idea to hold out of training camp and, because...

Sources: Mike Wallace not reporting to Steelers camp

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace has not reported to the Steelers mini-camp (Credit: REUTERS/Jason Cohn) Despite a premature congratulations by a teammate yesterday, it looks like Mike Wallace and the Pittsburgh Steelers did not actually come to an agreement on an extension. Today, ESPN’s John Clayton is reporting that not only have talks between the two sides broken...

Wallace this, Wallace that…it’s time to end this pointless conflict

If there’s one thing that I just can’t stand, it’s drama surrounding the Steelers. The whole Ben Roethlisberger saga is long gone now and rather than concentrating on just what’s going on in camp, Mike Wallace continues to drive the fans of Pittsburgh to talk about him. While I’m sure that’s not solely his intent by any means, it’s an affect nonetheless. If you’ve...
