PLAYERS: Brian Banks
TEAMS: Atlanta Falcons
Brian Banks is all too familiar with getting falsely accused on a sexual assault and serving time for it, so its only fair he reached out to Jameis Winston and offered words of encouragement. TMZ: Exonerated football star Brian Banks tells TMZ Sports he’s now focused on becoming a life coach — and last year contacted Jameis Winston to offer advice and encouragement when the FSU star was at the center of a sexual assault investigation.  Banks — who spent 5 years behind bars for a rape he didn’t commit — wouldn’t tell us what he and Winston talked about … saying they made a pact to never discuss it.  He also says privacy is the number one rule of life coach training.   Banks himself was a standout high school football player when he was accused of rape by a classmate. He was convicted and went to prison … but his accuser later admitted she had lied and the conviction was overturned.  After his release from prison, Brian had a brief fling last year with the Atlanta Falcons … but he says he’s done with football for now.  He wants to concentrate on life coaching and other projects — including an upcoming movie about his life. Im sure Winston and Banks had a lot to discuss and not just about the sexual assault case but also being able to keep a level head when the world seems to be against you. Banks has a lot to offer as a life coach to young athletes entering any professional sport, being able to spot who’s for you and against you is detrimental in professional sports.

Breaking: Atlanta Falcons sign a kick returner specialist

Earlier this afternoon the Atlanta Falcons signed cornerback and return specialist Javier Arenas. The former Chief and Cardinal was a 2010 second round draft pick from Alabama. Arenas gives Atlanta flexibility in the return game and possibly can be used as leverage to lower the negotiation prices for Devin Hester, who reportedly was seeking $3-4 million per season. Arenas signed...

Why the Atlanta Falcons are still not done in Free Agency

Atlanta started off the free agent period strongly by shoring up both the offensive and defensive lines. The addition of Tyson Jackson almost certainly signals the move to a hybrid 3-4/4-3 defense, and Jon Asamoah adds toughness to what was last years 2nd worst offensive line. Despite these  steps in the right direction, it’s hard to call our overall free-agent pick-ups a success...

Power Rankings: Rating NFL uniforms from 1-32, where are the Atlanta Falcons?

While the NFL’s free agency period is fun, providing every team in the league a reason to be hopeful about next season, there is a sobering reality about professional sports that comes through during this time of year. In the end, players are just interchangeable parts. Loyalty, from either the teams or the athletes, doesn’t even enter into the equation. Being a part of the community...

Falcons will get a pass-rusher, eventually

It seemed rather ironic how UCLA outside linebacker Anthony Barr was supposed to be in Atlanta on Friday, with the hometown team in need of a pass-rusher. No, he wasn't scheduled to visit the Falcons ... at least not yet. Barr was supposed to fulfill a media obligation with Fox, but flight issues kept him from making it to town. The Falcons still might want to keep an eye...

Roddy White Wants The NFL To Punish Jim Irsay

Everyone is looking to Goodell to make the appropriate punishment to Colts owner Jim Irsay. Players more so are looking for a precedent to be set, especially Roddy White.   I want to see what the NFL does about this Jim Irsay situation if a player loses a game check no matter the amount he should lose a game day — Roddy White (@roddywhiteTV) March 17, 2014 I’m guessing a...

Roddy White wonders if Jim Irsay will be punished by NFL for recent arrest

Since taking over as commissioner of the NFL, Roger Goodell has made it a point to punish players for questionable off-the-field conduct. At various times during Goodell’s tenure, we’ve heard the phrase “protecting the shield” in reference to maintaining the integrity of the league. Goodell has not been shy about the conduct standards he expects […]
