Cardinals claimed QB Brian Hoyer on waivers.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) December 10, 2012Former Patriots backup quarterback was picked up by the Pittsburgh Steelers after both Ben Roethlisberger and Byron Leftwich went down.Part of me was hoping that Charlie Batch would struggle immensely and Hoyer would get his shot, but I'll take the Pittsburgh win over Baltimore any day.The good news is that Hoyer will very likely get a shot in Arizona as their quarterback situation is absolutely miserable. They've alternating between John Skelton, Kevin Kolb and Ryan Lindley. They were also just decimated by the Seahawks 58-0. What's the disadvantage to putting Brian Hoyer in? I was always impressed with Brady's ex-backup when he played in preseason, blowouts or meaningless regular season games. However, after a shaky preseason he was passed on the depth chart by Ryan Mallett and eventually cut from the team.

Immediately after the news started circulating around that Pittsburgh Steelers guard Willie Colon might be done for the season with a knee injury, I received several questions via Twitter about how much it would cost to release Colon after the season.
Colon signed a five-year, $29 million contract prior to the 2011 season and he structured that contract to this past offseason...
Pittsburgh Steelers left guard Willie Colon left Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers in the second quarter with a left knee injury. His season is likely over.
If Colon can not play, it will be the third consecutive season he has not finished.
"It's terrible for him, man," center Maurkice Pouncey said. "For him to be dealing with that for the last couple...
The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a small and not unexpected roster move by cutting back-up quarterback Brian Hoyer. In place of Hoyer on the roster the Steelers have signed corner Josh Victorian off of the practice squad. Victorian is on the roster as an emergency corner to add depth with Ike Taylor out of the line-up injured this week.
When the Steelers lost Ben Roethlisberger...
TEMPE, Ariz. There are weeks to remember, weeks to forget and weeks when you consider a full frontal lobotomy.
Yeah. The latter was the Cardinals week. Lets review while stretching the definition of week in a Beatles, eight-days-a-week kind of way.
On Dec. 2, following a mind-numbing (we do like to stay consistent with our themes) 7-6 loss to the Jets, defensive tackle Darnell...
Because we know everyone is concerned about the welfare of Ben Roethlisberger, we just wanted to assure you that through early action in the first quarter, his derp game remains well intact despite what was once a life-threatening rib injury. On the Steelers’ second offensive snap, Ben tried to get rid of the ball under pressure, but instead planted it in the ground. Derpy enough...
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that running back Rashard
Mendenhall will be suspended for one game due to conduct detrimental to the
team, according to Dan Hanzus of NFL.com, while starting left guard Willie
Colon will miss several games after undergoing knee surgery, reports Ed
Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
#Steelers Tomlin: Colon had surgery on knee yesterday...
The Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the San Diego Chargers 34-24 Sunday at Heinz Field to drop their record to 7-6 on the season. Below are the players, or group of players, that I thought had winning and losing performances in the game and it sure was tough to come up with any winners this week.
Lawrence Timmons - Timmons led the defense with 11 tackles, 6 of which were for...
Ken Whisenut is the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. He is the coach of a team that just got demolished by an average Seahawks team 58-0, and has now lost nine in a row after winning their first four games. For Cardinals fans, it's easy to say he should be canned. If only it were that easy.Whisenut is the head coach, and also has a lot of input on personell, along with general...
Remember when the Cardinals started the season 4-0 and were the cute team in the NFC? Heading into Sunday’s game at Seattle they were sitting at 4-8, riding an eight game losing streak. This wise-ass Seahawks fan held this sign up right in front of the Cardinals tunnel.
Cardinals DE Calais Campbell didn’t think it was funny.
Not only have the Cardinals quit, they can’t even...
The Pittsburgh Steelers get their veteran quarterback back on Sunday at home against the San Diego Chargers and will look to build off of their win last week over the Baltimore Ravens. That win was a big one as it kept the division still within reach for now. The Chargers haven't won in Pittsburgh during the regular season during their existence, but history is just that. The...
Even with Ben Roethlisberger back from injury, the Pittsburgh Steelers were no match for the San Diego Chargers yesterday, what with their “Holy crap, we should play better so we aren’t all fired or traded” realization and effort. The Chargers defeated the Steelers 34-24 in a game that was much worse than the score indicates, with Philip Rivers tossing three touchdowns and...
The Pittsburgh Steelers were dominated by the San Diego Chargers today, but the Bengals, who were tied with the Steelers for the last playoff spot coming into the game, couldn't capitalize, losing to the Cowboys after leading most of the game.
With the losses by the Steelers and the Bengals, the Jets are suddenly right back in the wildcard race, just a game back with three...
It was a horrific display of first half football. The Pittsburgh Steelers were trailing the San Diego Chargers by a score of 13-3. The score itself tells a completely different story of what was happening on the field. It was a contest dominated by both teams defenses until the second half, and that's when San Diego took over. The Chargers scored 21 points in the second, 14 of...
Much is being said about the fact the Heinz Field faithful booed Mike Wallace after another dropped pass clanged off his hands early during Sunday’s 34-24 loss to San Diego. Chances were good that Wallace would have taken it to the house on the play, so the drop cost the Steelers some much needed offensive performance. Why shouldn’t fans boo poor performance? Wallace wants paid...
