Found November 04, 2011 on NBC San Diego:
It may be the Mike Tolbert and Curtis Brinkley show Sunday for the Chargers. Running back Ryan Mathews missed his third practice of the week Friday and looks doubtful to face the undefeated Green Bay Packers at Qualcomm Stadium. The Chargers will likely turn to Tolbert and Brinkley, a complementary pair of former undrafted free agents, to handle the load with Tolbert seeing the bulk of touches. The team is not expected to sign Jordan Todman from the practice squad. Brinkley passed his concussion test and practiced Friday for the first time this week. Tight end Antonio Gates also returned after taking a rest day Thursday, which figures to be a weekly occurrence. He will start Sunday. Wide receiver Vincent Jackson (hamstring) practiced for the second straight day and is expected to start. Wide receiver Malcom Floyd (hip), outside linebacker Shaun Phillips (foot), inside linebacker Na'il Diggs (knee), left guard Kris Dielman (concussion) and defensive end Luis Castillo (tibia) did...

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers Must Not Buy Into Whole Lip Reading Phenomenon

The San Diego Chargers lost another tough game this past Monday night, and following yet another costly turnover by quarterback Philip Rivers, the camera clearly caught him uttering the sentence, “This is the worst day ever.” Now, granted, the microphones were not focused on Rivers. You cannot tell for sure that is exactly what Rivers said, but it had to be along...

Tomlinson: Rivers looks distracted

Chargers’ Brinkley and Tolbert probable, Mathews questionable

The Chargers have three injured running backs, but they should have two on the field Sunday against the Packers. The one they may not have is starter Ryan Mathews, who leads the team with 111 carries for 509 yards so far this season. Mathews is listed as questionable with a groin injury, and after missing…

Pick Of The Week: Green Bay Packers (-5.5) at San Diego Chargers

The unbeaten world champion Packers travel south to play the perennial AFC threat Chargers. At first glace you would say that this is the marquee matchup of the week. But this game is going fail to live up to expectations as San Diego will continue to be shown just how big of frauds they are this season. Expectations have been high for the Chargers for the last decade. Scribes...

LaDainian Tomlinson’s theory on why Philip Rivers is struggling

Philip Rivers' subpar season has been a topic of national interest since the events depicted in the above video, which deadens my soul a little bit every time someone clicks on it. A lot of theories have been thrown around. Some people think he might be concealing an injury. Some people think the Chargers offense is severely crippled when Antonio Gates isn't healthy. Some...

Packers can't overlook Chargers

Each week, John Lynch breaks down a dynamic NFL offensive playmaker, devises a game plan and discusses a strategy for success. This week, Lynch examines how he would defend against Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers. The Green Bay Packers are the only undefeated team left in the NFL and are coming off a bye week, while the San Diego Chargers are coming off a rather, uh, horrible...

LaDainian Tomlinson says Philip Rivers appears 'distracted' this season

Count LaDainian Tomlinson among the people who have been confounded by Philip Rivers’ poor performance this season. Rivers has thrown a league-high 11 interceptions and has a pedestrian 80.7 quarterback rating through seven games. Tomlinson, who was teammates with Rivers in San Diego, didn’t ...
